Analysis of the development trend and investment prospect of semiconductor lighting industry

With the acceleration of global climate governance, the advancement of technology and the market demand, the global semiconductor lighting industry has entered a new round of rapid growth, and the development has shown a new pattern and new trend. Semiconductor lighting, also known as solid state lighting (SSL), is a light-emitting device made of third-generation semiconductor materials and organic semiconductor materials. It is the first successful breakthrough in the industrialization of the third-generation semiconductor materials. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's multi-sectoral and multi-initiatives jointly promote the development of the semiconductor lighting industry. Relevant departments have vigorously implemented semiconductor lighting technology innovation, energy-saving technology transformation projects, and semiconductor lighting application promotion. China's semiconductor lighting industry has made great progress and has become a global One of the fastest growing regions in the semiconductor lighting industry. At the G20 summit in Hangzhou just past, China and the United States took the lead in approving the "Paris Agreement" and jointly issued the "Sino-US Climate Change Cooperation Achievements". This key step taken by the two carbon-discharging countries in China and the United States has a demonstration effect. It will help the Paris Agreement to enter into force at an early date and accelerate the process of global climate governance. The Paris Agreement proposed to control the increase in the global average temperature to the pre-industrial level by 2 to 100 years ago. It can be said that it is a milestone in the history of human environmental governance and demonstrates the determination of human beings to cope with climate change. The Global Lighting Challenge, launched at the United Nations Climate Control Conference in Paris in December 2015, proposes to deploy 10 billion LED lamps in 2018. On October 1, 2016, the series of major measures for the general decantation of 15W and above incandescent lamps in China will undoubtedly rekindle people's enthusiasm for the semiconductor lighting industry. As the global ecological environment deteriorates and the energy shortage becomes more and more serious, semiconductor lighting is one of the important means to realize the sustainable development of social economy, and its industry has ushered in a new period of development opportunities. I. The development trend of the international semiconductor lighting industry Over the past ten years, LED has become an ecological light source with superior cost performance and has entered the lighting replacement market. With the global trend of eliminating incandescent lamps and limiting the use of fluorescent lamps (including mercury), the global semiconductor lighting market has experienced explosive growth. 1. Rapid improvement of technology level Currently, semiconductor lighting technology is in a period of rapid development. In 2015, the international light-efficiency level of high-power white LED industrialization has exceeded 160 lm/W. According to the semiconductor lighting research and development plan released by the US Department of Energy (DOE) in 2016, the luminous efficacy of cool white LED devices reached 168 lm/W in 2015, and the overall luminous efficacy of LED lamps reached 108 lm/W. It is expected that the cool white LED devices in 2016 will be The luminous efficacy will reach 184 lm/W, and the overall luminous efficacy of LED lamps will reach 125 lm/W. By 2020, the luminous efficacy of cool white LED devices can reach 218 lm/W, and the overall luminous efficacy of LED lamps reaches 196 lm/W; The luminous efficacy of the LED device is 255 lm/W, and the overall luminous efficacy of the LED lamp is 230 lm/W. The luminous efficacy of OLEDs is also increasing. In 2015, the luminous efficacy of OLED panels reached 60 lm/W, which is expected to reach 100 lm/W in 2017, 125 lm/W in 2020, and 160 lm/W in 2025. The goal is to achieve an OLED panel with a luminous efficacy of 190 lm/W (see Table 1 for details). 2. The market scale is gradually expanding With the advancement of technology, the application fields of semiconductor lighting are continuously expanding and the market scale is growing. According to a report released by the American industry research institute Strategies Unlimited in 2016, LED device revenues were approximately $14.7 billion in 2015, which is expected to be approximately $15.2 billion in 2016 and more than $18 billion in 2020 (see Figure 2). LED device lighting applications are still mainstream applications, accounting for more than 30%, and steadily growing; LEDs are expanding year by year in automotive and agricultural applications.
