It is reported that Canon developed a CMOS image sensor smaller than the 35mm full frame sensor to create a new pixel record.
The sensor has an actual resolution of 19,580 x 12,600 pixels and a sensor size of about 29.2 x 20.2mm, which clearly distinguishes letters from the fuselage flying at an altitude of 18 kilometers.
This means that the sensor will likely be used in military, security surveillance, measuring instruments, and industrial applications and will be used for capturing still images.
The sensor's circuitry is compressed and uses enhanced signal processing to achieve a read speed of 1.25 billion pixels per second. However, even though the sensor reads very fast, it can only achieve 5 frames per second in video mode.
Picture resolution is 125x the Full HD standard (1920x1080). The sensor can also shoot ultra-high-definition video, than the 4K-level images even more clearly 30 times.
At present, whether Canon will market the sensor and its price are not yet clear.
