ExxonMobil: Future demand for tires in Asia

Recently, ExxonMobil Chemical, held in Beijing in 2014 tire seminar on the theme "our commitment to lead the development". During the conference, John Lyon, vice president of Exxon Mobil Specialty Elastomers & Butyl Rubber, accepted the interview.

Mr. John Lyon said that providing customers with safe and reliable supply of high-quality halogenated butyl rubber is the best evidence of ExxonMobil Chemical's commitment. With deep manufacturing knowledge, integrated raw material supply, unified global sales specifications and strict quality control measures, ExxonMobil Chemical perfectly achieves this.

In order to achieve the goal of assisting the rapid development of the Asia Pacific region, ExxonMobil Chemical invested in the construction of two world-class butyl rubber factories in Saudi Arabia and Singapore, continuously upgrading the local expertise and strengthening tire testing in Asia. Ability to meet the growing needs of customers.

In addition, ExxonMobil Chemical also regularly conducts Global Tire Trends (GTT) surveys and shares with customers global tire quality information obtained from tire research and industry trend analysis. The tire industry is now focused on improving efficiency; we work closely with customers to help them improve tire quality.

With the growth of the world's population and economic development, the number of cars is also increasing. According to ExxonMobil's "Energy Outlook to 2040," it is estimated that by 2040, the number of cars and light trucks in the world will double to reach 1.7 billion. This will directly boost the demand for tires.

It is estimated that in the next 10 years, the annual growth rate of total tire demand will exceed 4%, and most of the demand will come from Asia. In addition, Asian tire exports will continue to increase, and half of them will be exported to North America and Europe. Therefore, almost all of the power for tire growth is expected to come from Asia. In fact, nearly 2 out of every 3 tyres produced today are manufactured in the Asia Pacific region.

High-quality halogenated butyl rubber is the preferred material for the production of inner liners, and the demand will increase as the demand for tires increases. This is attributed to the continuous increase in the radialization rate of tires, but more importantly, the increase in tire quality has also contributed to this growth. ExxonMobil Chemical recently supplied high-quality halogenated butyl rubber to two new plants invested and built in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, in an effort to meet this demand for growth.
