German Man: Trucks Revenue Growth in 2011


German truck manufacturer MANSE announced its 2011 financial report a few days ago. The report shows that its 2011 revenue increased year-on-year, but its net profit declined year-on-year.

German Mann's revenue in 2011 was 16.5 billion euros (about 21.8 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 12%; operating profit was 1.5 billion euros (about 2 billion U.S. dollars), a year-on-year increase of 43%; sales profit rate increased from 7.1% in 2010 To 9.0%. The net profit fell from 475 million euros (about 628 million U.S. dollars) in 2010 to 247 million euros (about 327 million U.S. dollars).

The growth of German Mann's revenue in 2011 was mainly attributable to the promotion of the commercial vehicle business (including the Man Truck & Bus business and the Mann Latin America business). Sales of commercial vehicle business in 2011 increased by 19% year-on-year to 12.6 billion euros, and the revenue of power engineering business in 2011 was 4 billion euros, a year-on-year decrease of 4%. In 2011, Man sold a total of 155,520 vehicles (including trucks and buses).

For 2012, Frank H. Lutz, the chief financial officer of the company, predicts that truck business revenue may drop by 5% year-on-year, power engineering business revenue will increase by about 5% year-on-year, and all company business revenues may decline slightly.
