Latin America Maximizes Fertilizer Plant Expected to Start in April

Petrobras announced on the 22nd that the company has obtained the EIA permit for construction of the largest fertilizer plant in Latin America in Tres Lagos, a central and western city in Brazil. It is expected to start construction in April this year and put into production in the second half of 2014. The new fertilizer plant has a designed production capacity of 1.2 million tons of urea per year, and an annual output of 761,000 tons of ammonia fertilizer. After the plant is put into operation, Brazil’s urea production will double that of today.
