Shell Says Negotiations on Iraq's Oil Service Agreement Are Still Negotiating

Royal Dutch Shell said it is still in talks with Iraq on short-term oil service contracts.
Comprehensive Foreign News reported on August 21 that Royal Dutch ShellPlc stated that it is still in talks with Iraq on short-term service contracts to help boost oil production.
A Shell spokesperson said the negotiations are continuing. However, he refused to give further details.
Iraq and major international oil companies have been negotiating six short-term technical service contracts worth about $500 million each. The goal is to increase production by 100,000 barrels per day, but progress has been slow.
These contracts are shaping the company's free help in recent years, and the oil companies said that these help have been greatly reduced in the past year.
Charles Ries, coordinator of the US economic restructuring in Iraq, said that the Iraqi government may stop all contracts.
