Foton to spend 10 billion yuan to expand vehicle and engine capacity


Yesterday, Beiqi Foton Motor announced that it will invest 10 billion yuan to expand the production capacity of the entire vehicle and engine in the next 2 to 3 years. It plans to have a production capacity of 1 million to 1.5 million vehicles in 2013 in Futian. By then, Futian is expected to become the country’s largest commercial vehicle and engine production base.
Wang Xiangyin, deputy general manager of Foton Motors, said that the Foton 10 billion expansion plan includes the heavy truck brand Auman’s second plant, which has a planned production capacity of 80,000 units and will be completed and put into operation by the end of this year. In addition, the cooperation between Foton and Cummins engines is also the focus of the development of Futian. Futian Cummins Engine has an investment of 2.7 billion yuan and a production capacity of 400,000 units. The preparation of gasoline engines is also planned for Futian.
