A123 Systems Inc., a US supplier of lithium batteries, recently announced its financial reports for the fourth quarter of 2011 and for the full year of 2011.
In the fourth quarter of 2011, A123’s operating income was US$40.4 million, which was a year-on-year increase of 68%, of which product revenue was US$34.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 76%; service income was US$5.9 million, an increase of 31% over the same period last year.
Last year, A123’s operating income was US$159 million, a year-on-year increase of 64%, of which product revenue was US$139 million (2010 was US$73.8 million); service revenue was US$20.1 million (2,350 in 2010 Ten thousand U.S. dollars).
In the fourth quarter of last year, A123 suffered a total loss of 37.5 million U.S. dollars and the total annual loss was 90 million U.S. dollars. The total loss in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $9.4 million, and the total loss for the full year was $17.4 million.
In the fourth quarter of 2011, A123 posted a net loss of 85 million U.S. dollars, and its annual net loss was 257.7 million U.S. dollars. In the fourth quarter of 2010, the net loss was 45.7 million U.S. dollars and the annual net loss was 152.6 million U.S. dollars.
